The present utility model relates to the process of producing indigenous fibers from papaya (Carica papaya) bark comprising the steps; harvesting mature, non-fruit bearing or virus-infected papaya plant, cutting and separating the leaves from the bark leaving only the bark for utilization, drying, scouring, bleaching and dyeing of the bark, extracting the fibers by manually disentangling the bark into fibers, softening using cationic softener then air-drying the fibers. It further relates to the use of the indigenous papaya fibers in the manufacture of gifts, housewares, holiday decors, fashion accessories, furniture and furnishing accessories, rope and textile. |
