PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a rectangular parallelepiped sodium niobate single crystal obtained by a conventional single step molten salt method has sodium defects more by 20% than niobium defects.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a rectangular parallelepiped single crystal having a perovskite structure and having sodium niobate as a principal component comprises heating a mixture 1 of niobic acid bismuth sodium being particles constituted of a plurality of crystals expressed by the general formula (1): BiNaNbO(m is an integer of two or more) and having more than 6 of the average value mof the m with sodium containing alkali metal halide at a temperature of 1200°C or more and 1250°C or less to obtain a rectangular parallelepiped single crystal having sodium niobate as a principal component.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
