Shaping closed container base

To produce a closed container base, at a tubular metal workpiece, one end of the workpiece is heated to a forging temp. and it is inserted into a mould with a slightly larger dia. than the workpiece. The mould and the workpiece are rotated by separate drives, in the same direction, round parallel longitudinal axes, and a shaping pressure is developed through the movements of the shape and/or workpiece, so that the generated friction heat melts the workpiece edge, and forms the base. A mandrel is inserted into the workpiece which, during shaping, applies an internal pressure on the developed base and rotates with the workpiece.
