The system has the usual objects for restaurants e.g. tables, stools, buffets etc. In addition it also has further technical devices which in a gastronomy mode, give the impression of a virtual world of adventure or experience. The device preferably includes one or more image projection devices (2) supplied with images from a video system or a computer system. The device may also include one or more loudspeakers. The device may also include e.g computer controlled puppets etc. relevant to the theme of the experience created. The device may have two or more areas each providing different virtual experiences.
