A weapon stock saddle for a weapon storage system includes an elongated irregular opening of a weapon stock saddle to receive a butt end of a weapon stock. The elongated irregular opening includes a toe end and a head end. The weapon stock saddle also includes a plurality of substantially parallel adjacent steps. Each step has a different height above a horizontal surface and forms a wall to capture the butt end of the weapon stock. A floor of the elongated irregular opening, between the toe end and a first wall of a first step of the plurality of substantially parallel adjacent steps, has an angle of about 17 degrees plus or minus 10 degrees with respect to a horizontal surface upon which the weapon stock saddle rests.

an elongated irregular opening of a weapon stock saddle to receive a butt end of a weapon stock, said elongated irregular opening comprising:
a toe end; anda head end; a plurality of substantially parallel adjacent steps, each step having a different height above a horizontal surface and forming a wall to capture the butt end of the weapon stock; and a floor of said elongated irregular opening between said toe end and a first wall of a first step of said plurality of substantially parallel adjacent steps, having an angle of about 17 degrees plus or minus 10 degrees with respect to a horizontal surface upon which said weapon stock saddle rests.
