PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire disconnection detecting method and a device and a plug or an electric outlet using this method. SOLUTION: This routine means comprises a current detection section 2 detecting the current flowing in an electric circuit 1, a current-voltage conversion section 3 converting the current outputted from the current detection section 2 into a voltage, a filter section 4 filter-processing the voltage outputted from the current-voltage conversion section 3, an A/D conversion section 5 converting the voltage outputted from the filter section 4 into a digital value, a maximum value detection section 6 detecting the maximum value of the absolute value of the digital value converted by the A/D conversion section 5 during the half cycle of the commercial frequency, a first register section 7 storing the maximum digital value from the past several cycles to the latest cycle outputted from the maximum detection section 6, and an arithmetic process section 8 arithmetically processing the maximum digital value stored in the first register section 7 to output a detection signal.
