PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine safe and effective for renal diseases, especially acute renal disease and acute tubular necrosis. SOLUTION: The preventive/remedy comprises 6,10,14,18-tetramethyl-5,9,13,17-nonadecatetraen-2-one represented by general formula (I), its salt or their hydrates as an active ingredient. Consequently, a heat shock protein is expressed in the kidney and the medicine is effective for preventing/treating renal diseases, especially acute renal disease and acute tubular necrosis.
