<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a function for measuring sheet information, in addition to a basic function of a conveying roller itself, by providing a wire-less transmitting sensor and a receiving sensor in each of shaft of the conveying roller. <P>SOLUTION: The conveying roller 11 is provided with a first roller 12A, a second roller 12B, a spring member 18, the transmitting sensor 50A provided in the shaft 13A to transmit ultrasonic waves, and the receiving sensor 50B provided in the shaft 13B to receive the ultrasonic waves. An ultrasonic signal is transmitted to the receiving sensor 50B through the shaft 13A, a pinch roll 14A, (a sheet 200), a pinch roll 14B and the shaft 13B in this order.
