The hybrid drive system has an internal combustion engine, charged with highly compressed system air. Electrical current and highly compressed air are produced from the energy in a combined recuperation process as it developes in brake application and obtained by accumulation of exhaust gas. A battery is charged and a high pressure air reservoir is filled at the same time. The internal combustion engine, charged by the compressed air is coupled with the gear by a power distributor in the primary and secondary power trains by clutches.
