PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of highly accurately determining which of the signal surface or the cover surface of an optical disk focus servo is applied to. SOLUTION: When an optical disk has a fixed or more eccentricity, as the number of tracks detected by optical means 20 is several hundreds to several thousands and the number of noises is about several tens, when it is detected that a track count n is less than 1/10 of a premeasured reference track count N, the application of focus servo on the cover layer of the optical disk 10 is determined, and the application of focus servo on a signal layer is determined when not less than. Thus, even when noises are detected while the focus servo is applied on the cover layer, the noises and tracks are determined. Accordingly, track detection accuracy is improved more than before.
