The method involves providing a honing spindle (13) with hone awls (8), which are inserted into a bore e.g. aluminum bore (11), and hone the bore. The inserted awls are arranged with respect to their spatial position, and spatial positions of hone rotary axes are approximately assigned to spatial positions of rotation axes and are selected for completely processing the bore. A work piece holder (19) provided with a work piece is linearly moved in direction of the hone rotary axes during machining process. An independent claim is also included for a device for fine machining a bore.
