PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detection device capable of reducing the possibility that the periods to drive respective exciting coils overlap with each other at starting up the detection sections.SOLUTION: A position detection device 1 has a processing section 23 (processing section 33) which intermittently executes an acquisition processing to acquire a detection signal Y1 (detection signal Y2) induced by a detection coil 22 (detection coil 32) according to the position an object 100 by driving exciting coil 21 (exciting coil 31) in a measurement period. A processing section 33 monitors whether or not the processing section 23 has executed the acquisition processing without driving exciting coil 31, in the monitoring period which is set before the measurement period of the processing section 33.
