PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover for the coal charging hole of a coke oven capable of effectively inhibiting the deformation of the washers and the cover of the coal charging hole of a coke oven due to the change in temperature and the adhesion and deposition of tar and the like. SOLUTION: (1) The cover for the coal charging hole of a coke oven is constituted by a circular upper cover 1, a circular lower cover 2 having a diameter smaller than that of the upper cover, an upper washer 3 which supports the upper cover, a lower washer 4 which supports the lower cover, a connecting bar 5 which connects the lower cover with the upper cover, a cooling gas supply opening 6-1 for allowing a cooling gas to flow between the upper cover and the lower cover and a cooling gas discharge opening 6-2. (2) The cover for the coal charging hole of a coke oven is constituted by a circular upper cover, a circular lower cover having a diameter smaller than that of the upper cover, an upper washer which supports the upper cover, a lower washer which supports the lower cover, a connecting bar which connects the lower cover with the upper cover, a pressure detector 7 for detecting the pressure within the coke oven, a pressure detector 8 for detecting the pressure between the upper cover and the lower cover, a computing element 11 for adjusting the pressure between the upper cover and the lower cover to a pressure higher than the pressure within the coke oven and a pressure regulating valve 9. (3) The cover for the coal charging hole of a coke oven is constituted by a water channel for allowing a cooling water to flow inside the upper washer in addition to the constituents of (1) and (2).
