PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and biomarkers (e.g., epigenetic biomarkers) for detection of gastrointestinal cancers (e.g., colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, cancer of the gall bladder and/or bile ducts (e.g., cholangiocarcinoma)) in biological samples (e.g., tissue samples, stool samples, blood samples, plasma samples, cell samples, gall samples, bile samples, serum samples).SOLUTION: The invention provides a method for detecting a gastrointestinal neoplasm in a subject comprising obtaining DNA from a biological sample of the subject; and determining the level, presence, or frequency of methylation of a nucleic acid polymer corresponding to one or more genes (e.g., GLDC, PPP1R14A, CDO1, DCLK1, ZSCAN18 and ZNF331).SELECTED DRAWING: None |
