PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tensioning device for a screen of a screen door and a method of fixing of the screen whereby mesh deviation and a wrinkle of the screen are surely prevented in a simple structure. SOLUTION: When a net 3 is fixed by press-fitting a screen holding member into a screen receiving channel 2B from an end of a stile member 2A of a screen door frame 2, a tensioning force is applied to the net 3 by the tensioning device 10 installed at the other end of the stile member 2A. Consequently, since the net 3 is prevented from loosening gradually toward the other end and the screen holding member is press-fitted in a state that the tensioning force is applied at all times, the screen door is manufactured while surely eliminating the mesh deviation and the wrinkle of the net 3. The tensioning device 10 includes a base part 11, a net sustaining part 12 and a constant force spring 13. Since the net sustaining part 12 sustains and tenses the net 3 at a position extended from the other end of the net receiving channel 2B, the device is minimized and standardized irrespective of the size of the screen door frame 2.
