<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic polyether based polymer excellent in high proton conductivity, the resistances to hot water and hot methanol, and mechanical characteristic features, and a process for its production, and further an aromatic polyether polymer useful as a polymer electrolyte material capable to attain a high output, a high energy density and high durability when used in a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, and a process for its production. <P>SOLUTION: The production of the aromatic polyether based polymer composed of at least (A1) bisphenol, (B1) a sulfonic acid group-containing aromatic dihalide and (C1) an aromatic dihalide containing no sulfonic acid group, is carried out by the polymerization of (A1), (B1) and (C1) at ratios of A1:1 mole, B1: b×c moles (with the proviso that b=0.01-0.99, c=1.02-1.2) and C1:(1-b) mole. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
