PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for making a coating powder capable of forming a coating having the property of antimicrobial activity. SOLUTION: The coating powder is produced by adding, to a powder comprising a resinous base composition, an effective amount of a solid, silver-containing antimicrobial additive powder to obtain the property of antimicrobial activity when formed into a coating; and blending the respective powders at temperatures at least as high as the glass transition temperature of the resinous base composition.
