A controller of a power transmission capable of speed change control in response to a speed change request. A controller of a power transmission has at least two transmission sections the speed-change responses of which are different and the speed-change ratios of which can be se set separately. The overall speed-change ratio is determined by the speed-change ratios set for the transmission sections. The controller includes speed-change control means for differentiating the transmission section preferentially subjected to speed-change control to achieve a predetermined deceleration when the predetermined deceleration is requested to be achieved depending on the content of the request to achieve the deceleration.
