PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation apparatus and a method of controlling the same that can shoten an idling time from the end of a printing job to a stop of rotation of an image carrier while controlling phases so that a stop position of the image carrier is not locally biased, but uniform.SOLUTION: An image formation apparatus that comprises a plurality of image carriers forming a plurality of images respectively, and superposes the plurality of images one over another on a recording medium comprises driving means of rotatably driving the plurality of image carriers, driving control means of controlling the driving means, and phase detecting means of detecting phases of the plurality of image carriers in a period in which the plurality of image carriers are rotatably driven. The driving control means generates a stop inhibition signal inhibiting a stop of rotation of the driving means with a lapse of a predetermined time after detection timing of the phase detecting means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
