<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the user to obtain an accurate processing method if an error occurs in a printer even if the user does not know the detail of the error. <P>SOLUTION: If this image forming apparatus detects the occurrence of an error (S11), when the error can be remedied by the user, the apparatus collects status information on the printer (S12, 13). Then, the apparatus generates notice information including error codes, acquired status information, and attribute information on printer, and transmits it to a maintenance server (S14, 15).
