PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat transfer medium having extremely small contribution to ozone layer depletion and global warming effect and being incombustible and capable of being used safely, a refrigeration cycle system, a heat pump system and an organic Rankine cycle system which have heat cycle property equal to and more than existing coolants, a heat transfer method in a system containing the heat transfer medium and a method for converting heat energy to mechanical energy.SOLUTION: There is provided the heat transfer medium containing 2-chloro-1,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene of 50 mass% or more.
