<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic image forming apparatus which has enhanced quality such as operability and usability, can restrain toner-scattering, allows only a toner cartridge to be replaced, consequently allows the running cost of the apparatus to be reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The electrophotographic image forming apparatus includes: an attachable/detachable process cartridge; an attachable/detachable cartridge; a first toner seal for sealing the cartridge and is openable with the driving force of the cartridge; a second toner seal for sealing the cartridge and openable with the driving force of the cartridge. The image forming apparatus also includes a tag for detecting whether the cartridge is a used one or an unused one; a control board for controlling a timing of removing the toner seal based on the detection result by the tag.
