<p>The primary power source of this vehicle drive system is a small single-cylinder, four-stroke constant speed petrol engine, which drives a dynamo. The dynamo output is rectified and fed sixteen series rotor windings on an asynchronous generator. The generator has eight stator windings, four of which charge 12 volt batteries via rectifier bridges. Two more windings are connected to electrolytic capacitors, and the other two produce 220 volt a.c. to be fed to asynchronous motors which provide most of the motive power of the vehicle. The batteries are connected in series, and are fed via a stepping switch and resistor bank to another motor, which also provides motive power on demand. The applicants claim that a vehicle powered by the system is capable of travelling 100 km on half a litre of petrol.</p> |
