PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for an electromagnetic load device that highly accurately detects an abnormality (disconnection or a short circuit) of the electromagnetic load device. SOLUTION: The controller for the electromagnetic load device includes an electric circuit (a drive circuit 108) for driving the electromagnetic load device (a linear solenoid 1), a means (a target-current-value setting part 101) for setting a target current value made to flow in the electric circuit, a means (a current monitoring circuit 4) for monitoring a current value flowing in the electric circuit, a means (a current deviation calculation part 102) for calculating a difference between the current value to be monitored and the target current value, a control means for controlling an output current value to the electromagnetic load device on the basis of the difference so that the current value to be monitored and the target current value become coincident with each other, an integration means (a current deviation integration part 104) for integrating the difference between the current value to be monitored and the target current value or the output current value for a prescribed period of time, and an abnormality determination means (an abnormality determination part 105) for determining an abnormality of the electromagnetic load device by comparing an integrated value of the difference with a threshold.
