PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera that can utilize information, which is obtained by a subject detection upon taking an image, after the image is acquired, as well. SOLUTION: The digital camera includes: a subject detecting means for analyzing an image to be analyzed containing a through image or a taken image captured from an imaging device for framing a subject, or a reduction image reducing the taken image, based on a feature appearing in each image representing an object to be taken containing a person, an animal and a plant, to detect a picture of at least one principal subject captured as the image to be analyzed; a subject information extracting means for extracting subject information containing a position on a screen corresponding to the image to be analyzed and positional information pertaining to its spread concerning each picture of the at least one subject detected by the subject detecting means from the image to be analyzed corresponding to the image to be taken; and a tag information recording means for recording the subject information extracted corresponding to each subject in a storage medium recording image data representing the taken image as a part of tag information corresponding to the taken image.
