<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily access an intended line, by visually showing access frequencies in document data to the user on a display screen of document data to make the user intuitively recognize a line frequently accessed. <P>SOLUTION: The display device outputs the display screen of document data. In this display screen, the access frequency of each line is shown by use of the background color of a line number displayed on the side of the line concerned, and the access frequency of each part divided for every optional line of the whole document is color-displayed on a scroll bar for scrolling a display line in the display screen. The access frequency is shown in two-color gradation.
