PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel which can stably support a control member that rotates together with a handle shaft and can prevent the deterioration of durability and the deterioration of rotation performance due to the control member. SOLUTION: This fishing reel 10 has: a spool 20 rotatably supported between the side plates 16a, 16b of the reel body 12; a base end portion 60 of the handle shaft 34 which is rotatably supported by a frame 14b on the side of one side plate 16b in a slip-off stopping state; and a toothed wheel 50 for controlling the power transmission states of a driving portion 22 and the spool 20 in a reel body 12 which is disposed on the outer peripheral portion of the handle shaft 34, wherein, a dent portion 86 permitting axial movement of a cutting tool for cutting the whirl-stopping engaging surface 34a of the toothed wheel 50, is formed in a receiving portion 70 formed on the base-end portion 60 side of the handle shaft 34 for controlling the axial movement of the toothed wheel 50.
