PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element with high external quantum efficiency, and a light-emitting element with long life.SOLUTION: A light-emitting layer containing a phosphorescent compound, a first organic compound, and a second organic compound is provided between a pair of electrodes. The first organic compound and the second organic compound are the combination forming an excited complex. The difference between the energy value at the peak of the emission spectrum of the excited complex and the energy value at the peak of the absorption band on the lowest energy side is within 0.3 eV.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 25
