PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter cleaning device capable of effectively removing dust such as grease and the tar of tobacco from a filter. SOLUTION: This filter cleaning device comprises dust removing boxes 10, 11 having guide passages for guiding the filter removing dust in the air and generating air flow passages inside, cleaning brushes 41 disposed along the longitudinal direction in the dust removing boxes, an electric motor 47 rotating and driving the cleaning brushes, and a moving means relatively reciprocating the filters in the direction orthogonal to the longitudinal direction to the dust removing boxes, and the dust attached to surfaces of the filters are forcibly removed by rotating and driving the cleaning brushes by the motor, while relatively reciprocating the filters in the direction orthogonal to longitudinal directions of the dust removing boxes. Here, sequence control is performed by combining states of constant rotating directions of the cleaning brushes, the rotating direction of the motor determined according to a position of a rotor in a voltage startup, and forward reverse rotation.
