The purpose of the present invention is to provide an apparatus and method for comparing three-dimensional models of a heterogeneous CAD systems, which separates three-dimensional CAD models of heterogeneous plant CAD systems into shape information and non-shape information, and calculates and aggregates similarity of shape information and similarity of non-shape information to compare the three-dimensional CAD models of the heterogeneous plant CAD systems. The present invention provides an apparatus and method for comparing three-dimensional models of heterogeneous CAD systems, including: an analyzing unit for separating each of three-dimensional CAD model 1 and three-dimensional CAD model 2 from heterogeneous CAD systems into shape information and non-shape information; a shape information similarity calculating unit for comparing shape information 1 of the three-dimensional CAD model 1 with shape information 2 of the three-dimensional CAD model 2 to calculate similarity of shape information; a non-shape information similarity calculating unit for comparing non-shape information 1 of the three-dimensional CAD model 1 with non-shape information 2 of the three-dimensional CAD model 2 to calculate similarity of non-shape information; and a final similarity calculating unit for utilizing the similarity of shape information and the similarity of non-shape information to calculate final similarity of the three-dimensional CAD model 1 and the three-dimensional CAD model 2.
