PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplification material capable of utilizing for optical device comprising laser, optical switch or the like, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same material. SOLUTION: A complex is disclosed containing water-soluble coloring matter, DNA and amphiphilic lipoid, or the optical amplification material, and the manufacturing method of the optical amplification material includes A step (1) of preparing water-soluble complex from water-soluble coloring matter and DNA, and a step (2) of preparing the optical amplification material consisting of the water-soluble coloring matter, DNA and the amphiphilic lipoid by adding the amphiphilic lipoid to the water-soluble complex. A material contains DNA-water-soluble coloring matter-amphiphilic lipoid while having optical amplification performance, and is prominent in optical amplification effect compared with a conventional material containing organic coloring matter or a complex containing cationic lipoid and by working this material so as to have the optimum configuration.
