PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transparent EL display device capable of displaying multi-colors having low viewing angle dependency utilizing a surface illuminant capable of efficiently utilizing light from a light source. SOLUTION: A transparent EL element 10 consists of a lamination body 17 which is formed by sequentially laminating a first electrode, a first insulation layer, a luminous layer, a second insulation layer and a second electrode on a surface of an insulative substrate 11 and, to a transparent light guide plate 33 in which a fine irregular part 31 is provided on a surface and the other surface is a smooth surface 32, the surface illuminant 30 for introducing light different from a illuminating color of the transparent EL element 10 from the light source 34 provided near the light guide plate 33 and guiding and emitting the light from the smooth surface 32. The transparent EL element 10 and the surface illuminant 30 are overlapped so that the smooth surface 32 side of the light introduction plate 34 is positioned at a side of a viewer P. A surface exposed to the viewer P side is a non-glare processed surface 61 which disperses light guided and emitted toward the viewer P as it is treated with non-glare process.
