PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic dictionary and an electronic dictionary server for outputting/printing dictionary data in an electronic dictionary according to the preference of a user. SOLUTION: Words and phrases to be retrieved are input by a user by an input part 101, and whether or not there are any data matched with input word data in each storage part is retrieved. The retrieval results are sorted, and displayed at a display part 102. When a desired output/print section is selected by the user, characters in any space other than the desired output/print section selected by the user is displayed closely. Also, when complemental information is input by the user, the the output/print information on a display screen is relayouted after the input, and the output/print information is stored in an output/print information storage part 107.
