A method for separating components of a multi-component feed stream is provided to separate the feed stream into at least three fractions effectively, by using a porous separator. A feed stream having at least two fluid components of the same phase is prepared. A porous separator(26) having an inflow face and an outflow face is prepared. A pressure difference, which comprises a relatively high pressure with respect to the inflow face of the separator and a relatively low pressure with respect to the outflow face of the separator, is maintained across the porous separator. The feed stream at the relatively high pressure is contacted with the inflow face of the separator, under a condition where components of the feed stream is separated into a retentate(210) formed on one side of the inflow face of the separator and a permeant fraction. The permeant fraction is formed on the other side of the inflow face of the separator. The permeant contains one or more components of the feed stream in a ratio different from the feed stream to be treated. The permeant is a source of a liquid permeant fraction(430) and a vapor permeant fraction(330). The retentate, the liquid permeant fraction, and the vapor permeant fraction are recovered, respectively.
