SHORT NORMAL ELECTRICAL MEASUREMENT USING AN ELECTROMAGNETIC TRANSMITTER

A method of drilling a wellbore is disclosed in which an electromagnetic signal is transmitted from a gap sub on a bottomhole assembly of a measurement- while drilling device into an earth formation. A related signal strength is measured at a surface location. Contact of a drill bit of the BHA with a new formation is estimated from a variation of the measured signal strength.
