<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which vibration of a scanning laser beam being emitted is restrained. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a damping device by which vibration of a laser unit 24 caused by vibration of a conveying unit 18 is controlled in order to maintain a predetermined relative relation between the positions of the conveying unit 18 and laser unit 24. The damping device includes piezoelectric elements 50-1 and 50-2 each of which is disposed between the conveying unit 18 and the laser unit 24 such that its one end is jointed to the conveying unit 18 and the other end to the laser unit. The damping device also includes a damping means that controls vibration of the laser unit 24 by controlling stretch and shrink of the piezoelectric elements 50-1 and 50-2 based upon output signals from the piezoelectric elements 50-1 and 50-2 so as to restrain shrink of the piezoelectric elements 50-1 and 50-2 caused by being compressed by the conveying unit 18 and laser unit 24 or so as to restrain stretch of the piezoelectric elements 50-1 and 50-2 caused by being stretched by the conveying unit 18 and laser unit 24. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
