PURPOSE: A peripheral device connecting apparatus is provided to easily use a computer of a internal peripheral device in the other external computer. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises controller for generating a control signal to select a computer or an apparatus using a 1394 peripheral device, a plurality of external 1394 ports connected to a 1394 connectors of the apparatus using a 1394 peripheral device, and a switch for connecting a plurality of internal 1394 peripheral devices to a plurality of 1394 physical layer ports or the plurality of external 1394 ports selectively. If the computer is power off, the internal 1394 peripheral devices is disconnected form the 1394 physical layer ports and connected to the external 1394 ports.
