PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic vending machine capable of enhancing an operation rate of a heat pump system, and capable of reducing an electric power consumption, when realizing heating by the heat pump system and a heater, as to the automatic vending machine for cooling or heating articles such as canned beverages to be sold. SOLUTION: A heating capacity of the heater is made same to a heating capacity of the heat pump system, or more, an ON temperature T3 of the heat pump system is made higher than an ON temperature T2 of the heater and is set to a range of heater OFF temperature T3 or less, an OFF temperature T4 of the heat pump system is made higher than an OFF temperature T3 of the heater, a temperature is thereby regulated using the heater mainly when the temperature gets low in an initial start-up or tentatively, the heating is carried out using mainly the heat pump system when stable, and resultingly an operation time of the heat pump system is prolonged to be used stationarily, so as to exhibit inherent efficiency of the heat pump system.
