PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode electrode for reducing carbon dioxide excellent in terms of reaction efficiency and accompanied by scarce degradations of electrode performances over time.SOLUTION: In a cathode electrode 103 for generating a hydrocarbon by electrochemically reducing carbon dioxide, at least the electrode surface thereof consists of a rolled copper foil, where the rolled copper foil comprises a polycrystal possessing two or more types of crystal planes having mutually different orientations and having an average crystal diameter of 5-100 μm. This configuration can improve the reaction efficiency by virtue of the peculiar crystal structure of the rolled copper foil and inhibit degradations of electrode performances over time. |
