A decorative strip (20) may be fastened (30) to the outside of a vehicle body. The rail has a modified C-shaped cross- section, with top and bottom grooves (21,22) accommodating the edges of a spring clip (31). There are top and bottom ridges (24,25) at the edges of the grooves. The edges of the spring clip fit in the grooves. An additional groove (23) outside the bottom groove accommodates the U-shaped portion of a spring tongue (39).
