PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize reduction in thickness of a document illumination unit and improvement of illumination efficiency thereof.SOLUTION: In a document illumination unit 20, light radiated from plural light emitting elements 4 arrayed in a x direction is entered and transmitted from an incident surface 3 of a light guide body 1, part thereof is emit from an emission surface 9 facing the incident surface 3 and reflected by a facing reflex board 11 for illuminating an area to be read A on a document platen 10 (beam of light 23 to 25). On a side close to the light emitting element 4 on a horizontal plane 5 of the light guide body 1, a deflection reflection surface 6 is provided, on a side far from the light emitting elements 4 on a horizontal plane 7, a deflection reflection surface 8 is provided, the part of light entered and transmitted in the light guide body 1 is reflected by the deflection reflection surface 8 and caused to transmit the horizontal plane 5 to illuminate the area to be read area A (beam of light 22). The part of light entered and transmitted in the light guide body 1 is reflected by the deflection reflection surface 6, reflected by the deflection reflection surface 8 and caused to transmit the horizontal plane 5 to illuminate the area to be read A (beam of light 21). |
