PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit driving force from a body unit to an opening and closing unit while suppressing increase in the sizes of an apparatus.SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus comprises: the body unit which comprises an original platen and a reader for reading an original placed on the original platen from under the original platen; the opening and closing unit which comprises an automatic original feeder capable of feeding the original to the original platen and is supported rotatably by the body unit so as to open and close the original platen; and a transmission unit which transmits the driving force for driving the automatic original feeder, from the body unit to the opening and closing unit. The transmission unit is relatively displaceable around the rotation center axis of the opening and closing unit, with respect to the opening and closing unit. |
