PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display including an alignment layer which is subjected to uniform alignment treatment and exhibits a sufficient alignment regulating force, and to provide an electronic apparatus provided with the liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: An element substrate 21 has the alignment layer 34, which contacts a liquid crystal layer 23 to regulate the alignment direction of liquid crystal molecules and is provided so as to cover a pixel electrode 11, wherein the thickness of the alignment layer 34 is larger than that of the pixel electrode 11.
