The present invention relates to a composition for alleviating nephrotoxicity caused by an immunosuppressive drug, containing metformin, and a composition for preventing or treating immune diseases, containing the same and, more specifically, to a composition for reducing nephrotoxicity caused by an immunosuppressive drug, containing metformin as an active ingredient, a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating immune diseases, containing metformin and a calcineurin inhibitor as active ingredients, and a pharmaceutically combined preparation for preventing or treating immune diseases, containing metformin and a calcineurin inhibitor as constituent elements, wherein the metformin and the calcineurin inhibitor are administered simultaneously, individually or in a predetermined order. The composition of the present invention can be useful for improving a treatment effect on diseases requiring immunosuppression by effectively alleviating the deterioration of a renal function caused by side effects of a conventional immunosuppressive drug, and further, can be useful for preventing or treating organ transplant rejection, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory diseases and the like since nephrotoxicity side effects of a conventional immunosuppressive drug is reduced and the immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory effects are maximized by suggesting various methods for co-administering a conventional immunosuppressive drug and metformin.
