A method and device for version upgrading in a multicast manner, the method comprising: a version server acquires a multicast address of multiple to-be-upgraded devices; the version server obtains version files corresponding to the multicast address of the multiple to-be-upgraded devices according to a preset correspondence relationship between the multicast address and the version files; and the version server transmits the version files to the multiple to-be-upgraded devices via the multicast address, and the multiple to-be-upgraded devices performs version upgrading according to the received version files. Version upgrading is performed via the multicast method, thus saving network management channel bandwidth significantly, reducing the transmission time of the version files, simplifying operation for the version upgrading, and improving version upgrading efficiency and carrier satisfaction. Moreover, the multiple to-be-upgraded devices of different types in the network can be upgraded in a single operation. |
