Methods and apparatus for sending and receiving multimedia content, and a home gateway are provided in the present invention. The method for receiving multimedia content comprises: once a home gateway receives multimedia content sent by a network-side device, ascertaining the multimedia capabilities of a terminal in a local area network (LAN) connected to the home gateway; on the basis of said multimedia capabilities, sending to the terminal said multimedia content over the Digital Transmission Content Protection Over Internet Protocol (DTCP-IP). Implementation of the described technical solution provided in the present invention solves the following problem in the related art: poor user experience arising from a terminal side being required to support a digital rights protection mechanism in order to receive multimedia content. Solving the problem greatly expands the range of multimedia service applications for operators, allowing said operators to securely distribute multimedia content to an ever growing number of mobile terminals. |
