PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoelectric encoder with which it is possible to output internal information to the outside and suppress an increase in manufacturing costs.SOLUTION: A photoelectric encoder 1 comprises: a light source 2; a scale 3 disposed on the optical path of a light emitted from the light source 2; a light-receiving element 4 for receiving the light emitted from the light source 2 via the scale 3; light state change means for changing the state of the light emitted from the light source 2; and control means 5 for controlling the light state change means. The control means 5 is provided with an information output unit 53 for making the light state change means change the state of the light emitted from the light source 2 and thereby outputting internal information to the outside. This makes it possible for the photoelectric encoder 1 to output internal information to the outside without newly adding a component or a peripheral circuit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
