摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for guiding a workpiece to an optimal position to train an assembly system which does not use a CMM or a similar measurement device as a whole.SOLUTION: The system and method represent image features of a workpiece in a common coordinate system when the workpiece exists in each station. This capability enables the visualization of results of those assemblies in "virtual assembly" without actually assembling the workpiece. The virtual assembly supports to guide the arrangement of the workpiece in each station to desired relative alignment. The system and method illustratively generate a composite image by using images from a camera used to guide the workpiece, and help to visualize how a user looks at the workpiece after assembling. The user can re-position an image of the workpiece in each station until the composite image has a desired external appearance.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
