PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a water-repellent coating tilm on a substrate at high productivity without restrictions by the shape and state of the substrate. SOLUTION: The method for forming the water-repellent coating film is a method for forming a water-repellent coating film on a substrate by using a water-repellent coating film forming fluid containing a water-repellent material and comprises a coating step of coating the substrate with the water-repellent coating film forming fluid by spray coating and a drying step, whereupon nearly circular agglomerates of the water-repellent material are distributed in spots on the dried water-repellent coating film, and the average particle diameter of the agglomerates is controlled at 20-50μm.
