PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that, in conventional casting apparatuses, a forming mold is rapidly cooled even when the forming mold assembled in the casting apparatus is preheated. SOLUTION: A casting apparatus comprises a forming mold 10 which is composed of the upper mold 12 and a side mold 16 which are both movable molds and the lower mold 14 which is a fixed mold, and forms a cavity 18 for a cast product therein when the respective molds have been assembled by moving the upper mold 12 and the side mold 16 toward the lower mold 14. A supporting plate 36 serving as a peripheral member to be connected to the lower mold 14 and the side mold 16 which serve as cavity forming members for forming at least a part of the inner wall surface of the cavity 18 is connected to a slide member 42 via connecting portions 40, 44 composed of ceramic plates serving as connecting members 40a, 44a having a heat insulating property higher than those of the lower mold 14 and the side mold 16.
